As an American married to an Aussie, I was excited when my wife heard of a restaurant specializing in both New Zealand and Australian fare. Especially since it was the week before Australia Day. So, we gathered a couple of friends, my brother, my wife, and myself and set a date for South Food & Wine bar on Australia Day. We arrive and were greeted with the sight of many an Aussie and the New Zealander co-founder…who was lovely. The food and wine, especially the Lamb and Fish and Chips were brilliant. I look forward to introducing more of my friends to South and have to add that we had an amazing time celebrating Australia Day and that I give South my vote for best Restaurant in S.F. for 2008!
